Winnipeg, Manitoba
A group of ten Amdocs physicians gathered today at the Manitoba Club in Winnipeg to attend a Continuing Medical Education (CME) event.
Suzanne Hajto, a Certified Diabetic Educator, along with Alysha Buck, a Pharmacist with The North West Company, conducted a session entitled Type 2 Diabetes—A Focus on New Pharmacotherapy. Given the high incidence of diabetes in the northern communities that Amdocs serves, this was a topic of utmost interest to the physicians in attendance, who work with patients on a daily basis to help them manage this disease.
Dr. Ian Forster, the Medical Director and Addiction Medicine Consultant for the Lifemark Health Institute, presented the second session entitled Chronic Pain, Opioids and Addiction. Certified in Addiction Medicine by the American Society of Addiction Medicine, and with almost 25 years of practice, Dr. Forster offered a highly informative talk rich with practical applications.
During a luncheon presentation, Amdocs founder Dr. Anthon Meyer was on hand to greet and welcome the Amdocs physicians to their first CME event. Edward Kennedy, President and CEO of The North West Company, passed along his thanks and expressed appreciation for the work that the Amdocs physicians are doing on a daily basis. He spoke about the similarities between The North West Company and Amdocs in terms of both organizations’ dedication to the health and wellness of the communities they serve, and how Amdocs, in alliance with NWC Health Products & Services, is increasing capacity to successfully deliver programs that help guard against disease and increase awareness of healthy living initiatives that can reduce the risk of chronic illness.
